Privacy policy

Smarter Week (“we”) runs HourLeak, a survey about how people spend their work week. This page explains what we collect, who can see it and how long we keep it. In short: your manager sees team totals, never your answers.

What we collect

• Survey answers: your department, role, seniority, the tasks you pick and how long they take, meetings, software, AI use and any text you type. We don’t ask for your name.
• Email, only if you give it: to send your report and, if you ask, a weekly tip. Leaders give an email to buy a scan.
• Payment details are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
• Basic visit analytics in our own database: pages viewed, the referring site and campaign tags. No advertising pixels or third-party trackers.

Who sees what

• You see your personal report at a private link only you have.
• The leader who ran the survey sees aggregated team totals only. Any group smaller than 3 people is never shown on its own; small departments are merged into “Other.” Leaders cannot see individual responses or anyone’s personal report.
• Work email sign-in. Some companies ask you to sign in with your work email so each person answers once. We use it only for that check: we store a one-way code saying you’ve taken the survey, not linked to your answers, and your manager never sees who answered what.
• AI champions (optional). At the end of a team survey you can volunteer as an AI champion. If you do, your leader sees only the profile you write and approve (your name, title, a sentence, and optionally your AI level and email), never your survey answers. You can stop sharing it at any time from your report link.
• Written answers are shown to leaders only as short paraphrases rewritten by AI to remove names, clients and anything identifying. The original text is visible only to our systems and a small number of our staff, for quality and research.
• Our AI provider (Anthropic) processes answers to write report text. Obvious personal details such as emails and phone numbers are removed before anything is sent. Anthropic does not train on this data.

Research

We publish research such as “State of AI at Work” using aggregated, anonymous data only, never individual answers or company names.

How long we keep data

Raw survey answers are kept for 24 months, then deleted. Aggregated statistics with no link to any person or company are kept indefinitely. A leader can delete their survey at any time by emailing us, which deletes its responses.

Your choices

You can skip any optional question, leave out your email, and unsubscribe from emails at any time. To access or delete data you gave us, email privacy@smarterweek.com with your report link.
